About 40 kilometers from Udaipur, India, lies the mountain pass of Haldighati, in the Aravalli Mountain Range. This area is the site of the 1576 Battle of Haldighati, between the Kingdom of Mewar the Mughal Army. This area has become synonymous with valor, heroism, and honor. It has also become known for sweetness, the fragrance provided by the Chaitri Roses now found in Haldighati. It was here, in these rose fields, where our family first began experimenting with and extracting fragrance oils from the roses over 160 years ago.
